Cirebelle, a chemistry-led manufacturer in the cosmetics industry, has been awarded the internationally recognised EFfCI GMP 2017 Standard Certification. The revised version serves to complement ISO 9001:2015, making Cirebelle one of only 74 companies in DQS CFS to receive this internationally recognised certification.
Cirebelle was founded in 2001 and is a manufacturer and provider of raw wax-based materials used in the cosmetics and personal care markets. Achieving Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) certification means that Cirebelle is now ahead of their competition. Maclean Chimugo, SHEQ officer at Cirebelle, shared his thoughts on the GMP certification saying; “We see ISO 9001 as a minimum requirement to compete locally, where GMP is more specific to the personal care and cosmetics industry. Our certification gives our international customers a higher level of confidence in our products and services.”
The EFfCI GMP:2017 certification conveys Cirebelle’s commitment to quality. Created by the European Federation for Cosmetic Ingredients (EFfCI), the GMP guidelines took aspects of the regulations used in the pharmaceutical industry, together with ISO standards and created the GMP; ensuring quality and safety in the production of cosmetic ingredients. The certification is awarded after a third-party audit by DQS, showing how seriously Cirebelle takes their products and setting an excellent example for businesses in South Africa to follow.
When asked about the company’s success within the South African cosmetics industry, Chimugo says; “It gives me confidence to know that our systems and processes can be benchmarked against the best in the world because it is of an international standard”. Where ISO certifications have become a standard requirement for business operations on a domestic and international scale, additional certifications such as GMP ensure your business stands above the crowd.
DQS derives great pride in awarding Cirebelle with the certification after completing the audit and meeting EFfCI requirements. Operating with outstanding excellence and meeting additional regulations shows exceptional commitment to the industry and the products offered.
